Big Misconception On Yoga “I can’t even touch my toes, so Yoga is not for me"

Updated: Sep 3, 2023

When I talked to athletes about Yoga, many said, “I can’t even touch my toes, so Yoga is not for me.”

That is ONE BIG MISCONCEPTION that social media created.

When you Google ‘Yoga’, you will see super flexible human doing poses that the majority of us cannot do. These ‘pretzel’ looking people can look very intimidating.

BUT…

WHAT IF YOGA IS NOT ABOUT TOUCHING YOUR TOES? 😕

What If I tell you “You don’t have to be flexible to do yoga”. That’s right. You read that right.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE TO DO YOGA 😲

Yoga means ‘Union’ in Sanskrit (an ancient and classical language of India). The Union between your body, your breath, and your mind.

This is exactly what Collen found. She found the classes ‘were helpful for my balance, breathing, listening to my body and learning to relax in the moment.’

Once again, you don’t have to be flexible to do yoga. Flexibility is just a wonderful by-product of practicing Yoga. 😊

Whatever your concept is of a ‘Yoga Person’, I invite you to put that aside for a moment. If something out there will help you relax, reduce pain, and prevent injuries, will you be open to trying it?

Until then,

Keep being you, the world needs more you! 🌻❤️
