MY TRIATHLON YOGA JOURNEY

THE BEGINNING
My yoga journey started back in 2012 at a gym here in Saskatoon.
When my favourite teacher left, I stepped away from yoga and signed up for a “Learn to Run 5K” program. I’ll never forget the instructor saying, “For some, running is just the start. Some become ultra runners, others become triathletes.”
I remember thinking, there’s no way I can do a triathlon. I couldn’t even run for a minute without gasping for air.
But I finished that 5K, and something shifted. I thought, why not try a triathlon? I love to swim, and I know how to bike. So I signed up for my first sprint triathlon and fell in love with the sport.
From there, I kept challenging myself with longer races: a standard, a half Ironman, and finally a full Ironman in 2017 (3.8 km swim, 180 km bike, 42 km run, all in one day).
Crossing that finish line was one of my proudest moments. But it also left me wondering what was next. That’s when yoga called me back.
WHERE YOGA MET TRIATHLON AGAIN
Two weeks after finishing my Ironman, I remembered how much I enjoyed yoga and decided to give it another try.
What surprised me most was how hard it was to slow down. After years of triathlon training and life always on the move, being still felt more challenging than any workout.
That struggle became the real work. Yoga gave me a way to pause, recharge, and find balance in training and in life.
I fell in love with the calm and balance yoga brought, not just for triathlon but for everyday life. I saw how much yoga could help everyone, so I decided to become a yoga instructor and later specialize in yoga for triathletes.
That balance is what helps me keep showing up strong, both on the mat and in triathlon.

FROM YOGA INSTRUCTOR TO TRIATHLON COACH
As I started teaching yoga, I realized how much I love helping others learn, grow, and feel strong in their bodies.
That same passion inspired me to become a triathlon coach. I love coaching 1:1 because it allows me to give my full attention to each athlete.
Everyone has their own story, strengths, and goals, and I enjoy meeting them where they’re at and celebrating every breakthrough, big or small.
Seeing athletes progress, gain confidence, and discover what they’re capable of is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
MY MISSION
I’ve always loved helping people, and that’s what inspired me to become both a yoga instructor and a triathlon coach. Yoga and triathlon have given me so much: strength, resilience, focus, confidence, and a sense of purpose, and I want to share those same benefits with others.
My love for triathlon also led me to start NextGen Youth Triathlon Club, a non-profit created to help kids discover confidence, connection, and fun through sport.
My goal is to create spaces where everyone feels welcome, supported, and encouraged to grow.
Whether it’s through yoga, triathlon training, or youth programs, I want people to feel stronger in their bodies and more confident in who they are.
What I’ve learned through yoga and triathlon continues to guide me every day, and my hope is that it helps you find that same balance and strength.
